Almas Öteschow

Almas Däuletjaruly Öteschow ( Kazakh Алмаз Дәулетярұлы Өтешов , Russian Алмас Даулетярович Утешов Almas Dauletjarowitsch Uteschow ; * the thirtieth March 1988 in Jekpindi , Kyzylorda ) is a Kazakh weightlifters . He was runner- up in dueling and jerking in the middle heavyweight division at the 2013 World Championships .

Career

Almas Öteschow began lifting weights as a teenager. The 1.75 meter tall athlete grew into middle heavyweight over the course of his career, having previously started in light heavyweight for a few years . He is trained by Ilya Alexandrowitsch Ilyin.

He made his international debut at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha. He came there in the light heavyweight duel to 310 kg (140-170) and thus finished 9th. In 2007 he started at the Junior World Championships in Prague and achieved 315 kg (140-175) in a light heavyweight duel and reached 11th place.

In 2008 Almas Öteschow won his first medal at the Asian Championships in Kanazawa / Japan in the middle heavyweight division. He increased it to 355 kg (160-195) and received the bronze medal in a duel. How difficult the path to the top of the world is, Almas Öteschow had to recognize in 2010 when he was used at the world championship in Antalya in the middle heavyweight division and despite an increase to 360 kg (160-200) he only came in 20th place. In the same year he was also at the Asian Games in Guangzhou at the start and increased there to 371 kg (170-201), with which he took 6th place.

At the 2011 World Championships in Paris he made three failed attempts with 170 kg. He was eliminated without a place. Nevertheless, he was used at the 2012 Olympic Games in London in the middle heavyweight division. He achieved there in a duel 395 kg (175-220) and came in a remarkable 7th place. His compatriot and role model Ilya Ilyin became Olympic champion .

The 2013 World Championships in Wrocław were the highlight of his career so far. Almas Öteschow was able to increase there in a duel to 397 kg (175-222) and was with this performance behind Alexander Ivanov from Russia, who came to 402 kg (180-222), vice world champion. He also won a World Championship silver medal with his shock performance of 222 kg.
