Alexander Konstantinowitsch Iwanow ( Russian Александр Константинович Иванов ; born July 22, 1989 in Rustavi , Georgian SSR ) is a Russian weightlifter .

Personal

Alexander Ivanov was born on July 22, 1989 in Georgia. When he was three years old, his family moved to southern Russia. Since then he has lived in Stanitsa Novomyshastovskaya near Krasnodar . Ivanov began lifting weights as a teenager, as his older brother Leonid was already practicing this sport and was also internationally successful in third place in the 2004 Junior World Championships in featherweight up to 62 kg.

Career

Alexander Ivanov's first international success was winning the European Youth Championship in Sofia in 2005 . In the middle weight up to 77 kg he took first place with 325 kg (145/180), ahead of Siarhei Lahun from Belarus with 324 kg. He completed his first Junior World Championship in 2006 in Hangzhou with 355 kg (160/195) as fourth in the light heavyweight division. At the Junior European Championships in the same year, 349 kg (158/191) were enough for the silver medal behind his compatriot Vasily Polownikow with 351 kg.

In 2007 Ivanov won his first junior world championship. In Prague he lifted 359 kg (163/196) in a light heavyweight duel, winning all three disciplines. He was able to repeat this success in 2008 in Cali with 365 kg (165/200), and in 2009 in Bucharest , now in the middle-heavyweight division, with 385 kg (175/210).

2010 Ivanov was with a performance of 408.0 kg (183.0 / 225.0 kg) Russian middle-heavyweight champion and was nominated for his first participation in the world championship of seniors. At this World Cup in Antalya he was able to secure the title in the duel and in the snatch with 403 kg (185/218). Only in the push did he have to admit defeat to Valeriu Calancea , who lifted 220 kg. Ivanov should originally have been used for the European Championships in Minsk, but he was unable to start for health reasons.

In 2011 he started at the World Championships in Paris. After a good start, he became world champion in snatch with 186 kg, he managed only 215 kg in the jerk and was caught by three competitors with a duel performance of 401 kg, so that in the duel he only came fourth without a medal. He also did not win the Russian championship that year. With a duel of 392 kg (177-215) he was just surpassed by Andrei Demanow , who came to 393 kg (175-218).

At the Russian Championship 2012 Alexander Ivanov improved his personal best in a duel to 411 kg (185-226), with which he won the title in front of Andrei Demanow, who achieved 407 kg (181-226). At the 2012 Olympic Games in London he reached 409 kgt (185-224) in the middle heavyweight division by means of doping. With that he was able to sneak a silver medal. Ilya Iljin from Kazakhstan, who weighed 418 kg (185–233), was unable to endanger the notorious long-term doping at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics , but in this doping competition.

In the Russian championship 2013 Alexander Ivanov was not at the start. But he won in July 2013 at the Universiade in Kazan, where 395 kg (181-214) were enough to secure victory in a duel. At the 2013 World Championships in Wrocław, he came to 402 kg (180-222) and won over the two Kazakhs Almas Öteschow , 397 kg (175-222) and Vladimir Sedov , 396 kg (180-216). In the individual disciplines, he won a gold medal in pushing and a silver medal in snatch.

doping

As demonstrated by extensive follow-up tests in 2016, Ivanov entered the 2012 Olympic Games with doping. He was therefore subsequently disqualified .
