description

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe buchlohii grows stemless, is simple or forms small groups. The ten to 20 lanceolate, pointed leaves form dense rosettes . The green, sometimes reddish tinged leaf blade is 40 to 50 centimeters long and 3 centimeters wide. There are a few spots on it near the base. There is a small end pin at the tip . The piercing, reddish brown pointed teeth on the leaf margin are 3 millimeters long and 8 millimeters apart.

Inflorescences and flowers

The inflorescence is simple or has one or two branches. It reaches a length of 60 to 90 centimeters. The rather dense, cylindrical to almost head-shaped grapes are 10 to 20 centimeters long and 7 centimeters wide. The ovoid, pointed bracts are 3 to 7 millimeters long and 2.5 millimeters wide. The pale yellow or at the base pale pink flowers become yellowish above. They stand on 15 to 20 millimeter long flower stalks . The flowers are about 25 millimeters long and narrowed briefly at their base. At the level of the ovary , the flowers are 7 millimeters in diameter. They are hardly narrowed beyond that. Your outer tepals are almost not fused together. The stamens and the style stick out about 4 millimeters from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe buchlohii is widespread in Madagascar on exposed granite rocks at heights of about 100 meters.

The first description by Werner Rauh was published in 1966.
