Aloe jawiyon is a plant of the genus Aloe in the subfamily of asphodeloideae (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet jawiyon is derived from je'awiyon , the common name of the speciesin Socotra.

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe jawiyon has short stems , branches and forms small clumps. The upright or prostrate trunks reach a length of up to 20 centimeters. The lanceolate, pointed leaves form dense rosettes . Their yellowish green, brownish tinged leaf blade is up to 20 centimeters long and 3.5 centimeters wide. The green teeth on the leaf margin are 2 millimeters long and 6 millimeters apart.

Inflorescences and flowers

The simple inflorescence reaches a length of up to 20 centimeters. The dense, cylindrical grapes are 10 to 20 inches long and 4 to 6 inches wide. The lanceolate-deltoid bracts are 4 to 6 millimeters long. The bright orange flowers have green tips and stand on 8 millimeter long flower stalks . The flowers are 10 to 20 millimeters long. Above the ovary , the flowers are slightly narrowed. Above it they are extended to the mouth. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 8 millimeters. The stamens and the stylus barely protrude from the flower.

Systematics, distribution and endangerment

Aloe jawiyon is common in Yemen on limestone at heights of 500 to 800 meters.

Aloe jawiyon is in the endangered Red List species the IUCN as " Near Threatened (NT) ", d. H. low risk, classified.
