Aloe teissieri is a species of aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet teissieri honors Marc Teissier, French horticulturist and curator of the private botanical garden Les Cèdres near Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat .

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe teissieri grows individually, is stemless or has a very short stem. The 15 to 20 upright, lanceolate, pointed leaves form rosettes . Their gray-green, sometimes pale pink, indistinctly lined leaf blade is 20 to 40 centimeters long and 4 to 6 centimeters wide. The pointed, pale pink teeth on the pink edge of the leaf are 2 millimeters long and 10 to 12 millimeters apart. The greenish yellow leaf sap dries light brown.

Inflorescences and flowers

The simple inflorescence reaches a length of 25 to 40 centimeters. The dense, cylindrical grapes are 10 to 12 inches long and 5 inches wide. The fleshy, broadly egg-shaped bracts have a length of 4 to 5 millimeters and are 3 millimeters wide. The club-shaped, orange-yellow flowers are on 2 to 5 millimeters long, stiff peduncles . The flowers are 15 to 17 millimeters long. At the level of the ovary , the flowers are 3 to 4 millimeters in diameter. Above that, they are extended to 6 to 7 millimeters towards the mouth. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 10 to 12 millimeters. The stamens and the pen stand out 2 to 7 millimeters from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe teissieri is widespread in Madagascar in the province of Toliara on granite hills at heights of about 500 meters.
