It is bordered by Lawndale to the west, Hawthorne to the north, Gardena to the east, and Alondra Park to the south by Torrance .
history
In 1927, Los Angeles County acquired what was to become Alondra Park. In 1929 the county's plans were unveiled. A recreation area with playgrounds, a swimming pool, a golf course and a large lake should be created. Because of the global economic crisis , the plans were initially not pursued further. In the 1930s only drainage work was carried out. During the Second World War , the as yet undeveloped area served as a dredging and training area. Development began after the war. The park was opened in 1946. In the following year, Alondra Lake was completed and the foundation stone laid for El Camino College . The golf course was opened in 1950. Between 1930 and 1962 the surrounding communities tried unsuccessfully to incorporate the Alondra Park area.
