Aloys Lenz (politician, 1910)

Aloys Lenz (born February 10, 1910 in Vochem ; † March 1, 1976 in Brühl (Rhineland) ) was a German CDU politician .

Life and work

After attending the village school, Lenz, who was a Roman Catholic , completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith. After the journeyman's examination, he completed an evening course at the State Mechanical Engineering School in Cologne . He later graduated from the State College for Business and Administration in Düsseldorf . He worked as a union secretary for the Christian Communal Workers ' Association until the unions were broken up in 1933 . During National Socialism he was employed as a machinist in the chemical industry.

After the Second World War , he helped found the DGB and became a union secretary at IG Bergbau .

Political party

Lenz was deputy district chairman of the CDU in the Cologne district .

MP

Lenz was a city councilor in Brühl and a member of the district council in the Cologne district. From 1947 to 1950 he was a member of the state parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia , where he represented the constituency of Cologne-Land-Süd.

Lenz was a member of the German Bundestag from its first election in 1949 to 1969. During this time he was always directly elected to parliament in the Cologne-Land constituency. In 1950 he was deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee of inquiry to investigate the causes of the mine disaster at the "Dahlbusch" colliery (Gelsenkirchen) .

From February 10, 1953 to January 21, 1970 he was also a member of the European Parliament .
