Alpedrinha is a town and municipality in the central north of Portugal . The traditional shepherd's festival Transumância , which is also known as a gastronomic folk festival, is known nationwide .
history
Possibly a fortified Castro culture settlement already existed here when the Romans arrived . The Romans called the place Petratinia . Parts of a Roman road from the 1st century AD have been preserved here.
Presumably, the present-day town was rebuilt in the course of the settlement policy during the medieval Reconquista and in 1202 became the seat of the first administrative district.
In 1675 the place received city rights from King D. Pedro II and was elevated to a small town ( Vila ). It remained the administrative center until 1855, when the Alpedrinha district was dissolved. Since then, Alpedrinha has been a municipality in the Fundão district.
