The Alsbach is a flowing body of water in the Emscher river system . Its 3.8 km run is located in the Sterkrade district of Oberhausen .
Location and description
The Alsbach rises near Hartmannstrasse in the Königshardt district . The largest part of its course leads through Alsfeld, which is named after him, and is embedded in the "Alsbachtal und Volkspark Sterkrade" conservation area. In the Volkspark to the north of Sterkrad's city center, the Alsbach feeds the pond there, continues underground on the western edge of the park and is fed into the Sterkrad main canal beyond the Oberhausen – Arnhem railway line at Von-Trotha-Strasse .
history
The Alsbachtal is considered to be the oldest settlement area in the Sterkrad area. A Franconian burial ground from the Merovingian era , which was found by chance during construction work in the Weseler Strasse / Oskarstrasse area in 1921 and made accessible through excavations in 1936, testifies to this .
The municipal outdoor pool "Alsbachtal", which opened in 1927, was closed in 2009.
