history

Old and New Heath of Unna around 1780

Heyde was in the 17th and 18th centuries, the general Pasture of Unna . It extended from Gut Höing and Haus Kissenkamp to the west and east of today's Hammer Straße to Vaerstbrücke and to the east to Mühlhausen Feldmark. At that time Hammer Strasse was still called "Kuhstrasse" and was a stick dam or a dirt road. In 1908 Kuhstrasse became today's Hammer Strasse. There were deep moats and pollarded willows on either side .

Haus Heyde was a moated castle in the Alte Heide area . The manor , the oldest part of which dates from the 17th century, was a treasure and many visitors who came from Bad Königsborn liked to stroll through the park of the house. Most of the time, the visitors also came to Heinrich Koepe's inn , which was a popular excursion destination for the Königsborner. The gardens invited to rest.

Settler community "An der Vaerstbrücke"

Coat of arms of the settlement

Vaerst is a derived form of forest or forest. The Vaerstbrücke is a bridge over the Mühlbach through Hammer Straße, named in 1961. When the An der Vaerstbrücke settlement was built in 1966, there were 20 houses ( shared apartments). At that time, displaced people from the former eastern territories ( East Prussia , Pomerania , Silesia , Sudetenland ) were given the opportunity to start a new business. The architectural style of the houses was and is largely the same today. Usually two houses were built next to each other. The houses have two floors, an expanded basement and an attic, which has been expanded in many houses over time.

The plots were inexpensive and cut in such a way that, for example , livestock could be farmed as a sideline . It stayed that way to this day. For the first twenty years, the houses were not allowed to be changed, and new houses were not allowed to be built, although there was still enough open space. Today the settlement has almost 30 house communities.

The settlement has its own board of directors and its own coat of arms. The coat of arms shows the bridge and the former mill that stood at the Heerener Mühlbach in Alte Heide.

Every two to three years there was a big settler festival that took place in the streets of the settlement.

The settlers' association "An der Vaerstbrücke" was dissolved on December 5, 2013 after a general meeting voted.

Carlernst-Kürten Foundation

Alte Heide-Schule, from 1894 onwards, was taught in the school for 71 years.

Carlernst Kürten (1921–2000) was a German sculptor. He worked as a freelance sculptor since 1957 - after training as a sculptor and studying at the Werkkunstschule Dortmund and Münster. From 1968 onwards, Kürten mainly designed works in chrome-nickel steel . At the same time, he created wood and bronze sculptures as well as wood prints. Large outdoor sculptures and open space designs by Carlernst Kürten can be found in Bochum, Dortmund, Düren, Hagen, Hamm, Holzwickede, Kamen, Kiel, Kleve, Lüdenscheid, Mannheim, Opladen, Unna and Wuppertal, and stainless steel sculptures in various museums and private collections. Numerous solo exhibitions and participations in exhibitions at home and abroad are documented in catalogs. In recent years he has also devoted himself to painting and graphics.

In the spring of 2002, the city of Unna founded the Carlernst-Kürten-Stiftung in Alte Heide, named after its respected constructivist, which opened its exhibition program in June 2002 with the exhibition of sculptures and graphics by Carlernst Kürten .

Every year two to three exhibitions take place in the rooms of the Alte Heide school.

Alte Heide fire fighting group

Until the end of the First World War, fire protection in the Alte Heide was ensured by the then 2nd Department of the Voluntary Fire Brigade of the City of Unna, consisting of the extinguishing groups Königsborn and Colonie. During the fire in the Weile house on Hammer Str. 200 in the summer of 1919 and in the Steman house in Hemmerde, however, it turned out that this regulation was not sufficient.

The Alte Heide needed its own fire brigade to carry out quick and effective fire fighting. For this reason, an application was made to the city council of Unna to set up a separate fire fighting group in the Alte Heide.

On February 13, 1921, the city parliament approved a fire fighting group of 20 men for the Alte Heide and also the necessary first equipment. The Alte Heide has had its own fire department since then.

TuS Alteheide 1929/49 eV

The sports club TuS Alteheide was founded in the economically difficult year of 1929 by a group of football enthusiasts around Heinrich Feller. This community was initially called Schwarz-Blau Alte Heide and was affiliated to the workers', gymnastics and sports club, which was close to the trade unions and promoted the sports activities of the working population. After a few years the first sporting successes were achieved.

In 1932 the West German champions of this sports organization were defeated. During the years of the National Socialist dictatorship, the association was dissolved. The club was re-established in November 1949. TuS Alteheide received its name, which is still valid today, and joined the West German Gaming Association. Red and white were chosen as the new club colors.

In the course of the 1986/87 season, the club had to vacate its sports field due to the settlement of the Karstadt AG goods distribution center . The short-term move to the Herderstadion in Unna, which became necessary as a result, could not be compensated for. Closely linked to this was the final resettlement of the TuS in its traditional home on Hammer Strasse in Alte Heide. In close cooperation with the city of Unna and the economic development agency of the Unna district, the financial resources for the new stadium were made available and the construction plans were also implemented. In December 1992 the sports area, which includes a grass pitch with a clubhouse, was handed over to TuS Alteheide.

SPD local association Alte Heide

The Social Democratic Party was reconstituted for the city of Unna on August 10, 1945 after a number of district assemblies had already taken place.

The local group Alte Heide was therefore one of the first three SPD local clubs in Unna. Politics were made by miners and workers along Hammer Straße. In meetings, presentations were given by comrades from the very beginning - Hubert Biernat (Minister of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia 1956–1958), Alfred Gleisner (first member of the Bundestag for Unna). Fritz Steinhoff , who later became Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, was a guest several times in Alte Heide .

Due to the demographic change within the party landscape, the local SPD associations Alte Heide and Königsborn merged on November 15, 2004. Volker Michael König (SPD) has been a current member of Unna's council for constituency 17 (Alte Heide) since October 22, 2009.

Citizens' Association Alte Heide

The association is involved in numerous campaigns or takes the lead. In the Aktion Saubermann project , which was launched in 2010, the surroundings are being cleared of any rubbish left behind in Alte Heide.
