The Alte Schanze , also known as Wallberg , is a young Slavic castle wall near Tutow-Dorf , a district of the municipality of Kruckow in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district . It is located about 350 east of the federal highway 110 crossing Tutow-Dorf . The rampart is largely inaccessible in a damp lowland known as "Quebbe". The castle wall towers above the surrounding swamp area by around 12 to 15 meters. The system has a diameter of around 90 meters at the foot of the wall and around 45 meters at the top of the wall. The interior of the castle ramparts is largely flat, the inner area is less than 1000 m 2 . The wall height is slightly lower on the north side, where the entrance to the castle was. About 550 meters to the northeast is the " Old City ", an old Slavic castle complex.

The Yugoslav castle wall is dated to the 10th to 12th centuries. It is possible that the complex lost its importance as a center of power during Henry the Lion's campaign in 1164, which led him via Demmin to Stolpe . The castle remained a noble seat and, like the neighboring Kartlow, was a princely court of the Dukes of Pomerania in the 13th century . In 1256 Duke Barnim I issued a document here. After the abandonment of the wooden castle complex, it was used by the local population until the 19th century, including at public festivals.
