The Altenkirchener Sportgemeinschaft 1883 e. V. is a German sports club based in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) in the district of the same name .

history

Founded until World War II

The club was founded in 1909 as the Altenkirchen sports club, and in 1919 they joined the 1883 Altenkirchen gymnastics club, which already had a football department. In 1922, the footballers in SV Altenkirchen split off again, but this club was only to survive until 1925. The remaining members then formed on November 12, 1927 in the new club Sportfreunde Altenkirchen . This then merged in August 1931 with the SV Helmenzen to form the Altenkirchen-Helmenzen sports association . Another year later they merged with the Reichsbahn SV Altenkirchen to form the Reichsbahn TSV Altenkirchen . In March 1937, the National Socialists merged the club again with TV 1883 Altenkirchen to form the Turn- und Reichsbahn Sportverein 1883 Altenkirchen , later the Reichsbahn SG was added to this club . After the end of the Second World War, the association was dissolved once.

post war period

For the 1961/62 season , the first soccer team rose to the third-class amateur league of Rhineland for the first time . But rose with 17:31 points over 12th place immediately after one season. The club then returned to the league a second time for the 1964/65 season , but at the end of the season it was relegated again. The club rose to the amateur league for the last time in the 1967/68 season, but with 18:42 points it went down again after just one season.

Current time

In the 2002/03 season the first soccer team played in the Rhineland regional league , but after a league structure reform they had to relegate to the regional league A with 53 points over seventh place. After the 2004/05 season was then with only 15 points as the bottom of the table to go to the district league B. Then at the end of the 2007/08 season with 60 points the championship succeeded with which the club was able to return to the district league A. Here you could keep the class until the 2010/11 season.

Then they joined forces with the Wiedbachtaler Sportfreunde Neitersen association to form SG Neitersen / Altenkirchen . Thus one took over the starting place of the club from Neitersen in the district league. In the very first season, with 61 points, the championship and thus promotion to the Rhineland League succeeded. However, at the end of the 2013/14 season, you had to relegate it with 25 points. With 66 points, however, the championship immediately succeeded again in the following season and with it the direct promotion. The club still plays in this league today.
