The Alte Wochowsee is a natural lake in the Oder-Spree district in the Storkow municipality . It is located in the Wochowsee district and is part of the Dahme-Heideseen nature park and the Sielmann nature reserve, the Groß Schauener lakes .

The Alte Wochowsee is located in the middle of a protected area. The village of Wochowsee is to the west, as is the Groß Schauener chain of lakes . The Küchensee is located north of the Alter Wochowsee .
ecology
On the island in the Alten Wochowsee there is a cormorant colony which is one of the largest colonies in Brandenburg. In 2011 317 pairs brooded here, which corresponds to a decrease of around 100 pairs compared to the previous year.
In the past, the colony caused controversy between conservationists and fishermen , who suffered an estimated loss of 77 tons of fish per year from the cormorants. In 2005 there was a disturbance action approved by the State Environment Agency by the State Fisheries Association of Brandenburg for the first time , in which fishermen deliberately kept the birds away from brood care through noise. Almost 86% of the brood was destroyed in the action.
After another disruption action in 2008, the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU) successfully took legal action against the disruption, so that the approval of the State Environment Agency was revoked.

The fishing in the Old Wochowsee is permitted with an appropriate permit.
