Sielmann's natural landscape, the Groß Schauener Lakes
Sielmann's Groß Schauener Seen natural landscape is a nature conservation project of the Heinz Sielmann Foundation in the town of Storkow in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg .
The area was acquired by the Heinz Sielmann Foundation in 2001 and expanded through further land purchases in the following years. The aim of the purchase was, among other things, the natural preservation of the lakes themselves and the protection of the banks and areas near the banks. Furthermore, the habitat for various animal species such as ospreys , otters and bats should be secured and ecotourism should be promoted in this area.
geography
The over 1000 hectare area belongs to the Dahme-Heideseen nature park and includes the lakes of the Groß Schauener chain of lakes and part of the surrounding area. The individual lakes in the chain border on the districts of Groß Schauen , Wochowsee , Selchow , Schwerin and Bugk .
ecology
The lakes and the surrounding area provide habitats for various animal and plant species. They also include endangered or rare species such as the European mink , the wolffish or the black tern .
tourism
A fish restaurant near the lakes offers an information exhibition that deals with the protected area and the animals that live in it.
