Old office building Hemer
The old office building was the seat of the administration until the office of Hemer was dissolved in 1975 . The building was inaugurated in 1908 and has served as the seat of the municipal music school and the adult education center since the municipal reorganization in 1975 . At the same time, the administration moved to the new Hemer town hall .
In 1908 the office building in Oberhemer was built in the direct vicinity of the previous building, which was demolished in 1958. The foundation stone was laid in March. The architecture of the building combines Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque and is unique in this form in the Hemer area. After the inauguration on November 11, 1908, the administration of the Office Hemer moved into the building and furnished offices. Detention cells were built in the basement for the police .
The office was dissolved by the Sauerland / Paderborn law in 1975 and a large part of the municipalities belonging to the office were incorporated into the new town of Hemer . In the course of the reorganization, the city built a new city center with a new town hall, so that the office building lost its function. Then the music school and a few years later the adult education center moved into the building, which is still in use today. In 1985 the building was placed under monument protection.
