Gudrun Lange is a German country music singer from Augustusburg and has been the front woman of the band Kactus since the late 1980s .

history

In 1971 the band was formed by u. a. Martin Djoleff under the name Antipathie? founded and played more experimental rock music . Later, u. a. Achim Schaale and Tommy Georgiew added and the band performed under the name Kactus . Frank Zückmantel and Torsten Großmann played together at Brigitte Stefan & Meridian until they broke up in 1990.

At the age of 15, Lange won a talent competition as a singer. In 1982 she met Martin Djoleff, the band leader of the band Kactus , when the band was looking for a singer. The first important joint appearance was in 1985 when they took part in the international country festival in Mrągowo in Poland .

During their first American tour together, the Bellamy Brothers invited them to the Snake Rattle & Roll Jam in Florida as the first European country band . On the album Ich tanz 'im Regen , which was produced by Tom Astor and Klaus Löhmer , she can be heard in a duet with the title Ich lass mich alles - an adaptation of Holly Dunn's song Your really had me going . The piece Yellow River Road is a duet with Suzy Boggus .

In 1998 the band took a trip to Nashville , where the DVD American Dream and in March the album Incognito were produced. Here, too, Löhmer acts as a producer together with Djoleff.

After a few strokes of fate, Gudrun Lange and her band Kactus released their comeback album Du und Ich in 2011 . With the single Believe in yourself , she was a guest on several radio and television programs.

Achievements and Awards

In 1992 the band received an award in Jonny Hills RTL broadcast Kilometer 330 . At the Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, they received the Golden American Award from Auto Bild and Trucker magazine . In 2002 and 2011 Gudrun Lange was voted the best female singer in Germany by the German American Country Music Federation . Tom Astor wrote the successful single Ich tanz im Regen for the band .
