history
The building was built in 1838 as the mayor's office by the communities of Langerfeld and Nachbarebreck , at that time still part of the Prussian province of Westphalia . This housed the mayor's office as well as a detention, guard and sprayer bar. For security reasons, the detention cell was located behind the thick walls of the basement. In 1841 the mayor's office in Langerfeld was renamed an office and the mayor was given the title of bailiff . The first bailiff of Langerfeld was Wilhelm Dieckerhoff .
Until 1922 the building was still used as a police office with holding cells. After Langerfeld was incorporated into Barmen , the building was converted into a residential building.
The building was entered on February 18, 1988 as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.
