Altman Kellner (secular first name: Otto; born November 18, 1902 in Vöcklabruck ; † March 27, 1981 in Wels ) was an Austrian Benedictine , musicologist and Regens Chori in Kremsmünster Abbey .

Life

Otto Kellner was a musean at the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster from 1913 to 1921 , his profession took place on August 23, 1922. Altman then studied from 1922 to 1926 at the Papal Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo in Rome , and was ordained a priest in 1926 in Vöcklabruck . He then came to Kremsmünster Abbey as a catechist ; for two years he then worked as a temporary priest in Kematen , Vorchdorf and Ried im Traunkreis . From 1928 he was a student at the University of Music Vienna for two years and then received his doctorate in 1931 at the University of Vienna .

Subsequently he was professor for religion, music and Italian (with the interruption from 1938 to 1945, during which time he was, among other things, novice master in the Mariastein Abbey in Switzerland from 1944 to 1945 ). From 1930 and with an interruption until 1946 he was adjunct of the music director, 1945/46 monastery organist , since 1946 Regens Chori. In addition to his professorship, after his return to Kremsmünster Abbey, he also became a novice master and clerical director, member of the senior citizens' council, custodian of the collegiate church, subprior from 1949 and provisional parish priest of Kremsmünster from 1957 to 1958.
