Beda Plank

Beda Plank (secular first names: Franz Ignaz Friedrich; born September 27, 1741 in Weyer ad Enns , † October 26, 1830 in Kremsmünster ) was an Austrian Catholic clergyman, playwright and choir in Kremsmünster Abbey .

Life

Beda Plank attended school in Garsten , then the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster and studied at the University of Salzburg .

At Pentecost 1765 he was ordained a priest in Passau , the primacy took place on September 1, 1765. Subsequently, he was professor at the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster, in 1782 became sub-rain of the knight academy, later president and prefect in the museum, rent master and office director. Between 1771 and 1803 he was Pater comicus in charge of the Stiftstheater.

From 1794 to 1830 he worked as the rain choir of the monastery. In addition to numerous teaching works, sermons, poems and the anniversary publication on the occasion of the millennium (1777), he wrote numerous school dramas and librettos - especially for Georg Pasterwiz -, some in Upper Austrian dialect.
