Aluflexpack is a Swiss-Croatian company based in Reinach , Switzerland . It manufactures aluminum packaging and has been listed on the Swiss stock exchange since June 2019 . The majority of the shares are held by the Montana Tech Components industrial group of Austrian entrepreneur Michael Tojner .

history

The company was founded in Croatia in 1982 under the name Folijaplast and has been a subsidiary of the former Carinthian Hypo Alpe Adria Bank since 1999 . The company, which was considered loss-making at the time, had its main plant in Zadar, Croatia, and a second production facility in Umag . After being renamed Aluflexpack in 2001, the company took over further production facilities in the Croatian cities of Drniš and Omiš .

In 2008, a consortium led by Aluflexpack took over the loss-making Croatian aluminum plant TLM with more than 1000 employees. In 2010 Aluflexpack achieved a turnover of 70 million euros and employed almost 500 people. In 2012, Hypo Bank sold its subsidiary Aluflexpack to Michael Tojner's Montana Tech Components industrial group. The sale of TLM, which was planned at the same time, failed.

In 2013, Aluflexpack took over the majority in the Swiss company Process Point Service , a manufacturer of pet food packaging. In 2015, the French manufacturer of pharmaceutical packaging Eliopack was integrated into Aluflexpack. Aluflexpack has been listed on the Swiss stock exchange since June 28, 2019. With an issue price of 21 Swiss francs per share, the company achieved 153.3 million francs (the equivalent of 137.6 million euros). After the IPO, 46.6 percent of the shares were in free float , while Montana Tech Components held 53.4 percent.

Products

Aluflexpack mainly produces flexible aluminum packaging for food and beverages . These include coffee capsules , packaging for tea, pharmaceutical products , pet food , dairy products and other foods . The industrial buyers of the packaging are around 600 food and pharmaceutical groups such as Nestlé , Bayer AG and Novartis . The range is divided into the product groups of containers , films and foils , coated foils, circuit boards , pouches and printed aluminum.

There are also two logistics centers in Poznan and Tychy (Poland). The company has a total of eleven locations in Europe.

Business figures

According to its own statement, the Aluflexpack Group is the third largest aluminum packaging group in Europe. The company employs a total of 1150 people at all locations (as of June 2019). Sales in 2018 totaled 184.3 million euros. The proceeds from the IPO are to be used to repay liabilities, enable company acquisitions and expand production capacities. Aluflexpack's target markets with the highest turnover are France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Croatia.
