history

Until the dissolution of the circle (concelho) of Penalva de Alva in 1853, Alvoco das Várzeas belonged to him. It then belonged to Sandomil County , which was dissolved in 1855. Since then the place belongs to Oliveira do Hospital.

Culture and sights

The parish church Igreja Paroquial de Alvoco das Várzea (also Igreja de Santo André ) dates from the 19th century and is a listed building.

The medieval stone bridge Ponte Medieval de Alvoco das Várzeas is also a listed building.
