Am Christbusch is a locality in the middle of the mountainous city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

The location is in the east of the residential district of Hesselnberg in the district of Barmen at an altitude of 194  m above sea level. NHN in the area of ​​today's eponymous street Christbusch am Unterbarmer Friedhof . The original living space was replaced with factory facilities and the headquarters of Dr. Herberts & Co GmbH built over. The Christbusch forest area of ​​the same name extends south up to the southern heights of Wuppertal .

Etymology and history

The name refers to the wooded area that is said to have been owned by a family or person named Christ.

The place is marked on the topographical recording of the Rhineland from 1824 as a Christmas book and on the Prussian first recording from 1843 without any labels. In the plan of the city of Barmen from 1863 the place is called Am Christbusch .

In 1815/16 there were 154 inhabitants. Which according to the statistics and topography of the district of Dusseldorf as 1832 Ackergut categorized place was a Christian Busch called and had at that time eight houses and four farm buildings. At that time, 180 residents lived in the village, nine of them Catholic and 171 Protestant.

From 1891, Plant I of the paint manufacturer Herberts was built on the site of the residential area, where the administration was later set up. To this day, the administration of the successor company Axalta Coating Systems (formerly DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) GmbH ) is located there .
