The Christbusch is a wooded local recreation area in the North Rhine-Westphalian city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

The forest area in the geographic center of Wuppertal is located in the Unterbarmen district in the area of ​​the residential quarters Hesselnberg and Lichtenplatz . It extends from 195 meters above sea level. NN up to 320 meters above sea level. NN up the Wuppertal south heights and is bounded in the east by the Kerbtal of the Auer Bach and in the west by that of the Bendahler Bach . The Am Dausendbusch settlement protrudes into the forest area.

In the north of the Christbusch lies the grounds of the Villa Herberts , which was redesigned into a sculpture park by the sculptor Tony Cragg, who is based in Wuppertal . It borders the Unterbarmer cemetery to the east , which is also part of the recreation area. On the Kaiser-Friedrich-Höhe there are two monuments that remember Barmer dignitaries and honorary citizens Otto Jäger (1827–1892) and Heinrich Eisenlohr (1816–1899). There is also a Wuppertal forest house and the allotment garden area Waldfrieden . The Wupperweg and, until 2014, the Residenzenweg cross the forest area.

Am Christbusch is also located on the northern edge of the forest .
