Am Flöthen is a location in the north of the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal .

Location and description

The location is in the south of the Uellendahl-Ost residential area in the Uellendahl-Katernberg district at an altitude of 205  m above sea level. NHN am Mirker Bach at the foot of the Stübchensberg on today's street Am Wasserlauf .

Neighboring locations, farms and residential areas are Uellendahl , Weinberg , Röttgen , Auf der Nüll , Carnap , Beesen , Am Cleefchen , Raukamp and Pannesbusch .

Etymology and history

The name Flöthen is a form of Floss (= river ) and is related to flow or Fleet . It refers to the Mirker Bach.

The place is marked unlabeled on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey from 1843, on the Wuppertal city map from 1930 as Am Flöthen . In the Elberfeld address books of 1850 and 1858 the place is called auf'm Flöthen , 1864 and 1868/70 in Flöthen and from 1875 Am Flöthen . The measuring table sheets Barmen designate the place until the first half of the 20th century as Flöthen .

The road from Elberfeld via Hatzfeld and Schmiedestraße to Sprockhövel and Witten was built in 1825 , which is now Uellendahler Straße
