On the Goldberg

Am Goldberg is a satellite settlement of Nieder-Olm in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Location and history

The settlement is located on the south-eastern outskirts and is higher than the other districts of Nieder-Olm. State roads lead to Zornheim , Sörgenloch and the core town of Nieder-Olm. The pure housing estate was developed in the 1960s to the influx of workers of that time in Mainz resettled company IBM and ZDF to respond.

Infrastructure

The district consists mainly of single-family houses and bungalows . In the northern part there are four multi-storey apartment buildings.

The Goldberg does not have any shopping facilities and is connected to public transport via the ORN ( Omnibusverkehr Rhein-Nahe GmbH) network ("Abzweig Goldberg" stop, approx. 500 m north of the development, service in regular intervals via line 652; "Goldberg" stop “In the middle of the development, school trips on lines 66 and 667 to the Nieder-Olm school center and a daily trip on line 652 directly to Mainz).

In April 1977 a fitness and football field with a roller skating rink, a small football field and a playground with ropes, climbing beams, horizontal bars, parallel bars and other fitness equipment was set up.
