Amalie of Hessen-Homburg

Christiane Amalie von Hessen-Homburg (born June 29, 1774 in Homburg , † February 3, 1846 in Dessau ) was a princess of Hessen-Homburg and hereditary princess of Anhalt-Dessau by marriage .

Life

Amalie was a daughter of Landgrave Friedrich V von Hessen-Homburg (1748–1820) from his marriage to Karoline (1746–1821), daughter of Landgrave Ludwig IX. from Hessen-Darmstadt .

She married Hereditary Prince Friedrich von Anhalt-Dessau (1769–1814) in Homburg on June 12, 1792 . She took care of the upbringing and education of her children personally and thoroughly.

On February 6, 1797, she bought the Priorau hereditary and allodial property from Oberforstmeister Heinrich Otto von Görschen.

The writer Friedrich Hölderlin dedicated his poem from around 1800 to send from a quiet house - To a princess of Dessau.
