The Amberes container ship is the first inland container ship to be approved for sailing in the estuary and was put into service in January 2008. The hull was built in the People's Republic of China and completed by Smits Machinefabriek en Scheepsreparatie BV in Krimpen aan de Lek . It is used in the area of the ARA ports ( Amsterdam , Rotterdam , Antwerp ) and coastal shipping. The shipping company is FV Maes-Gasten in Antwerp .
GPS , autopilot , depth gauge, electronic magnetic compass
Marine radios, camera surveillance, on-board computers
All systems must be duplicated in order to be allowed to sail in coastal waters. Since no apartment could be built on the foredeck, the entire width of the stern was built over with an apartment of over 200 m². A hydraulically elevating bulkhead is built into the front of the hold to prevent splashing water from entering the space.
