Amberes rear view

The Amberes container ship is the first inland container ship to be approved for sailing in the estuary and was put into service in January 2008. The hull was built in the People's Republic of China and completed by Smits Machinefabriek en Scheepsreparatie BV in Krimpen aan de Lek . It is used in the area of ​​the ARA ports ( Amsterdam , Rotterdam , Antwerp ) and coastal shipping. The shipping company is FV Maes-Gasten in Antwerp .

Container ship Deseo

In the meantime, two more ships have been put into service for inland waterway and coastal traffic. At the beginning of 2008 the Deseo , a ship with a length of 110 m and a width of 17.1 m that can transport 450 TEU in six layers, including up to 100 refrigerated containers. The Deseo is powered by two Mitsubishi diesel engines with 1,300 hp each, which act on two Veth rudder propellers. Two bow thrusters with 700/500 hp are installed to aid maneuvering.
