Ambros Gisler (born March 26, 1941 ) is a politician ( CVP ) in the Swiss canton of Uri . He is entitled to live in Schattdorf (UR) , is married and has three adult children.

Professional

After training as a machine designer, Ambros Gisler worked as a technical service manager / adjunct at what was then the Altdorf ammunition factory (now RUAG). He was then elected Secretary General (General Secretary) at the Uri Building Department.

Ambros Gisler was a member of the local council of Schattdorf from January 1, 1969 to December 31, 1982, of which as mayor from January 1, 1979 to December 31, 1982. From 1976 to 1984 he was district administrator of the canton of Uri . After being elected to the government council of the canton of Uri, he was a member from June 1, 1984 to May 31, 2000. As bailiff of the canton of Uri, he served from 1 June 1990 to 31 May 1992. During this time, the anniversary falls "700 years Confederation", with the inauguration of the " path of Switzerland ", the Youth Day on the Rütli and the National Day celebration on the Rütli on August 1, 1991 with the entire Federal Council, parliamentarians and government representatives from all cantons.

During the entire 16 years of government activity, Ambros Gisler was head of the Uri Department of Economics. The highlights of this activity are: the redesign of Uri's economic policy with targeted economic development, the establishment of the Office for the Environment, the Presidium of the Reuss Delta Commission (natural design of the Reuss Delta on Lake Uri with the inclusion of ecology and economy) and the lead in the project new railway Alpine transversal on the Gotthard (NEAT). Gisler carried out public relations work for the relocation of heavy transit traffic from road to rail, together with Federal Councilor Adolf Ogi , and he also organized the reception of 15 European transport ministers on the church hill in Wassen regarding traffic loads in the Alpine region. From 1992 to 1994 he was President of the Central Switzerland Intergovernmental Conference.

Additional tasks during government activity

While he was in government, Ambros Gisler performed various additional tasks for business, society and sport: in 1986 he was OC President of the “Gwär 86” in Uri, and from 1989 to 1991 he was President of Swiss Home Work, Bern; and in 1996 OC President of "Gwär 96" in Uri. From 1993 to 1997 he was President of the Central Switzerland Tourism Association and from 1995 to 2000 President of the Central Switzerland Traffic Directors.

Ambros Gisler was a member of various administrative boards, such as Kraftwerk Wassen from 1984 to 1988; from 1984 to 2001 of the Vierwaldstättersee shipping company; 1988 to 2000 Altdorf power station; 1984 to 1998 Auto AG Uri ; 1985 to 2001 Treib-Seelisberg-Bahn ; 1988 to 1996 Bankrat Urner Kantonalbank and 1989 to 2000 Furka Oberalp Bahn (today: Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn).

Social functions in the cantonal public

Ambros Gisler held the position of cantonal field master in the cantonal association of the Uri scouts (1963-1966) as the main social function , he was then canton president of the Uri scouts from (1967-1973). In 1986 he was OC President at the 100th anniversary of the Uri Trade Association, he presided over the OC of the Uri Kant. Music Festival (1993) and he was OC President at the Central Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Schattdorf (1995).

After leaving the Uri government council

The presidium (2003-2010) of the Höfli Pflegewohngruppe Foundation, Altdorf, will take place after the government council office; Chairman of the Board of Directors (2001–2013) of Treib-Seelisberg-Bahn and Herrenknecht Schweiz Holding AG (since 2005).
