The Auto AG Uri (proper spelling: AUTO AG URI ), short AAGU , is a licensed bus company in the Canton of Uri , Switzerland . It operates regional bus services in the Uri Reuss Valley. For this, the AUTO AG URI acts as a transport officer for the post bus -Transport into the side valleys over the Klausen Pass (seasonal) to Linthal (seasonal) and year-round to Maderanertal , Isenthal as well as a rapid bus service to Stans . The Tellbus (express bus connection Altdorf - Lucerne) is also operated by AAGU. In addition, the company is active in rail replacement and coach transport .

history

Tram

Between 1906 and 1951 a tram ran from the Tell monument in Altdorf to the Flüelen train station .

Beginning of bus operation

In May 1951 the Altdorf– Flüelen line was switched to bus operation and the network was expanded to include the municipalities of Bürglen and Schattdorf . The use of gyro and trolley buses was examined, but buses were ultimately selected for operation. The high demand led to some new acquisitions. In the course of the changeover to bus operation, the Altdorf-Flüelen AG tram was converted into the new Auto AG Uri .

Dissolution request

From the mid-1960s onwards, demand stagnated. Due to high operating costs of the presented Directors at the General Assembly in 1970 a request for the dissolution of AAGU. The general assembly rejected the proposal and arranged for the majority of the shares to be transferred to the canton of Uri and the municipalities in order to secure financing.

Network expansion

After the takeover by the public sector, the network was gradually expanded. In 1974 the Altdorf - Attinghausen line was opened. In 1975 the line was extended to Flüelen to Gruonbach . In the following year, AAGU took over the first Postbus route with the Flüelen – Linthal line . Seedorf was developed in 1978, and Bauen in 1979 . In 1981 the post bus line to Stans was opened. In 1987 the line to Flüelen – Schattdorf was extended to Amsteg . In 1994, the Swiss Federal Railways stopped regional traffic on the Gotthard route. The AAGU took over this task, whereby the main line was extended to Göschenen. In 1998 the village of Gurtnellen was connected to Gurtnellen Wiler, where there is a connection to the Flüelen – Göschenen line. The on- call bus is introduced in 1999. In the meantime, AAGU had ceded the PostBus courses to Bauen and Stans to other companies, and in 2001 took over the PostBus route Altdorf- Isenthal .

Night bus and Tellbus

In 2004 the Uri night bus was introduced between Flüelen and Göschenen and, on request, from Altdorf to Unterschächen . This was followed in 2006 by the start of the Tellbus as an express bus between Altdorf and Lucerne , initially only on weekdays in morning and evening traffic. Due to the very high demand, the offer of the Tellbus is constantly being expanded to this day, in contrast to the night bus to Schächental , which has now been discontinued due to lack of demand.

Clock compression and line 4

In December 2014, the frequency on line 3 ( Seedorf - Bürglen ) was improved from hourly to half-hourly. At the same time, line 4 was introduced, which on weekdays connects Seedorf via Altdorf and Attinghausen stations with the Rynächt industrial and commercial area. A battery-powered bus from SOR Libchavy was also tested on this new line for three months .

Express buses to Stans

The Winkelriedbus , which runs on weekdays, was introduced in December 2015 , which is why the Flüelen– Stans courses have only run on weekends since then. The new Winkelriedbus runs as an express bus between Altdorf and Stans in the mornings and evenings. A year later, in December 2016, the weekend connection from Flüelen to Stans was replaced. The new Gotthard Riviera Express has a direct connection to trains to and from Ticino so that residents of Nidwalden and Engelberg can also benefit from the new Gotthard Base Tunnel . It only runs between Stans Bahnhof , Buochs Post and Flüelen Bahnhof . Since the introduction of these connections, both of which run as route 310, the AAGU has once again acted as the transport officer for postbus traffic to Nidwalden.

Lines

The three-digit line numbers were taken from the course book . The bus lines usually run with a single-digit line number (last digit of the official number), whereby the Tellbus and the Andermatt express bus do not include the line number.

Bus routes

Lines 402 and 403 are served together Monday to Saturday from 8 p.m. The buses run from Bürglen on line 403 to Seedorf, then to Attinghausen, on line 402 to Altdorf Telldenkmal and on line 403 back to Bürglen.

Rates

In contrast to most of the other cantons in Switzerland , the canton of Uri does not have an extensive zone system. The tariffs are therefore based on the Swiss Direct Transport (DV) system . The Flüelen - Göschenen route is a joint route of the AAGU and the SBB and tickets are therefore valid for rail and bus.
