Ambrosius Bruns

Ambrosius Bruns OSB (born May 5, 1678 in Borcholz ; † August 21, 1730 in Grafschaft Monastery ) was abbot of the Grafschaft Benedictine Monastery from November 17, 1727 to August 21, 1730 .

Life

Bruns entered the monastery in 1698 and made his profession in 1699 . In 1701 he was appointed sub-deacon , 1704 for deacon and in the same year for priests ordained. From 1710 Bruns was the administrator of the iron works belonging to the monastery before he became master chef in 1711 and cellarius in 1714 . In 1717 he became a confessor for the nuns in Brenkhausen Abbey . In 1719 he returned to Kloster Grafschaft as prior . A year later he took over the pastor's position in Schmallenberg . In 1723 the convent elected him abbot. During Brun's term of office, the beginning of the complete rebuilding of the monastery and the monastery church in the baroque style fell. He was buried in the choir of the monastery church.
