Coelestin Höynck OSB (also Coelestinus Höink ; * 1659 in Arnsberg ; † October 25, 1727 in Grafschaft ) was Cellarius and later abbot of the Grafschaft monastery .

Life

Höynck was born in Arnsberg in 1659 as the second youngest son of the Brückmeister von Arnsberg and judge of the Cologne court Körbecke Rudolphus Höynck and his wife Anna Maria Monheimb and baptized Joannes Henricus on October 31 of that year.

After entering the monastery Grafschaft, he made his profession on April 16, 1679, he took the religious name Cölestin. He was ordained a priest at Pentecost 1684 . From 1685 he was in charge of the cloister's supplies as a cellerar (waiter) and was novice master from around 1700 before he became cellerar of the monastery for the second time in 1701. On June 9, 1711 he was elected the 26th abbot of the monastery. In this capacity he was also dean of the Wormbach dean's office .

In 1713 he received permission from Cologne Auxiliary Bishop Johann Werner von Veyder to consecrate the altar in the monastery hospital .

During his time as abbot, the monastery received a visit from two Benedictines from the congregation of St. Maur. They reported that the monks in Kloster Grafschaft lived very simply, if not poorly, but were happier than princes in their palaces.

Coelestin Höynck died in Grafschaft on October 25, 1727. He was buried in the choir of the monastery church.
