Ambrosius laughs
Ambrosius Lacher (* around 1470 in Meersburg ; † 1540 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German polyhistor and mathematician .
Life
Ambrosius Lacher attended the universities of Basel , Leipzig and Wittenberg , where he was promoted to a master's degree in 1504. He first lectured in Leipzig and was then brought to Frankfurt an der Oder by the founding chancellor of the University of Frankfurt , Dietrich von Bülow , where he was appointed rector in 1516. He taught astronomy / astrology, music theory, from 1522 also medicine, and influenced the further development of the university in a humanistic sense.
Lacher ran his own in-house print shop, eight of which have survived between 1506 and 1511. The north-east German calendar printing tradition that began in 1510 was significantly influenced by Lacher and later continued by David Origanus .
One of his students was Jodocus Willich .
