Amelia Anne Kyambadde (born June 30, 1955 ) is a Ugandan politician of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) who, as private secretary, has been a close confidante of President Yoweri Museveni since 1986 and has been Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives since 2011.

Life

Amelia Kyambadde attended the Gayaza Junior School from 1962 to 1968 and then from 1969 to 1972 the Sacred Heart Secondary School Gulu and from 1973 to 1974 the Agakhan Secondary School . She then trained as a secretary at New Era College Kenya between 1975 and 1976 . In 1979 she became the personal secretary of Yoweri Museveni , who was Defense Minister at the time and, in 1980, Chairman of the Military Commission. During this time she completed a degree in corporate communications in Swedish in 1984 and, after Museveni took office as President in 1986, she was Chief Personal Secretary and held this post until 2010. During this time, she obtained a Diploma in Administrative Procedures from New College, University of Durham in 1990 and in 1992 a certificate in human resource management from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI). Furthermore, they started in 1996 a degree in management at the Higher School of Economics (Business School) of Makerere University (MUBS), she with a 1999 Bachelor of Business Administration ended (BBA). In 2003 she began another postgraduate course in management at the American International University, which she completed in 2004 with a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

In 2011, Amelia Kyambadde became Minister of Trade, Industry & Cooperatives in the cabinet of Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and has held this office since 2014 in the subsequent cabinet of Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda . She is also a member of the Parliament of Uganda for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and represents the constituency of Mawokota County North , which is located in the Mpigi district in the central region.
