Amer Hrustanovic (born June 11, 1988 in Zvornik , SR Bosnia and Herzegovina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Austrian wrestler ( Greco-Roman style). As part of the Austrian team , he took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London .

Athletic career

In addition to being Austrian, Hrustanovic also has the citizenship of his native Bosnia and Herzegovina . He is a member of AC Wals in Salzburg , his coaches are Marco Haring Hannes and Ralph Zentgraf . In 2009 he started at the World Championships in Herning and was 14th. He successfully took part in the 2010 European Championships in Baku and was only eliminated in the quarter-finals against the reigning world champion Melonin Noumonvi . At the 2011 European Championships in Dortmund he was eighth in the class up to 84 kilograms, and 14th at the World Championships in Istanbul . The European Championships a year later in Belgrade were less successful . In the third round and in 20th place in the final scoring, he was eliminated from the Slovak Marian Mihalik and missed the direct qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Only with the victory over the Greek Theodoros Tounousida in the semifinals of the qualifying tournament in Sofia he secured the Olympic participation . In 2012 he won the title at the Austrian championships in the class up to 96 kilograms.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics , he took part in the ring competitions in the up to 84 kg class . After defeating South Korean Lee Seyeol , he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Poland's Damian Janikowski , who later became bronze medalist.

At the European Wrestling Championships in 2014 Hrustanovic reached third place, where he only had to admit defeat to the eventual winner Dschan Belentschuk .

At the Dave Schultz Memorial World Cup in Colorado Springs 2016 he won gold by beating American Courtney Myers in the final.

He ended his active career on February 8, 2020.
