Amir Fryszer Guttman
Amir Fryszer Guttman , born as Amir Fayger (born April 25, 1976 in Kirjat Chaim , Haifa , Israel ; † July 23, 2017 in Haifa, Israel), was an Israeli pop and musical singer as well as LGBT activist.
Live and act
Born as Amir Fayger, he shortened his father's last name after his parents' divorce and added the maternal surname Guttman.
After his military service, he began a career as a model and journalist. In 1996 he was cast as a member of the boy band "Hi Five". The band split up in 2000 and Guttman began his solo career. His first album was called Mantra. He then began a career as a musical performer in musicals such as The Ugly Duckling , Hansel and Gretel and Peter Pan .
He came out as a homosexual in 2007 after an interview for a newspaper. He has since been a noted LGBT activist in Israel and abroad. In 2008 he performed on Christopher Street Day in Amsterdam and played his song Once Again in front of around 100,000 people . In 2009 he married his partner Yanai Fryszer, whose surname he took. It was the first prominent gay marriage in Israel's history. He and his husband adopted a child. In 2010 he also appeared in Germany and was one of the opening musicians of the Gay Games in Cologne .
Circumstances of death
In March 2016, Guttman was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and was receiving chemotherapy. This misdiagnosis was recognized and withdrawn three months later. That is why there was a private celebration on the
Neve-Yam beach in Atlit on the first anniversary of the withdrawal of this diagnosis. While bathing in the rough sea, Guttman, his nine-year-old niece and one other person were aborted. He nearly drowned while trying to keep his niece afloat and died a day later of multiple organ failure at Rambam Hospital in Haifa without regaining consciousness. The other participants were rescued without physical harm.
