Amphoe Mueang Nakhon Pathom ( Thai อำเภอ เมือง นครปฐม , pronunciation: ʔāmpʰɤ̄ː mɯ̄aŋ náʔkʰɔ̄ːn pā.tʰǒm ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district ) in the Nakhon Pathom Province . The Nakhon Pathom Province is located in the middle of the central region of Thailand .
geography
Nakhon Pathom is about 50 km west of the capital Bangkok .
Neighboring circles (clockwise from north): Kamphaeng Saen , Don Tum , Nakhon Chai Si, and Sam Phran district in Nakhon Pathom Province, and Bang Phae , Photharam, and Ban Pong district in Ratchaburi Province .
The Khlong Chedi Bucha ( คลอง เจดีย์ บูชา ) is the most important water resource in the district.
history
The area around Nakhon Pathom was already a large city of the Mon kingdom in the Dvaravati period .
Today's Mueang Nakhon Pathom County was established as Phra Pathom Chedi in 1895. At that time he was subordinate to the Müang Nakhon Chai Si in the Monthon Nakhon Chai Si. In 1898 it became the capital of Monthon and province of Nakhon Chai Si to Phra Pathom Chedi district. In 1913, King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) changed the name of the county to Mueang Nakhon Pathom.
