Amphoe Mueang Phang-nga ( Thai : อำเภอ เมือง พังงา ) is a district ( amphoe ) in the province of Phang-nga in the southern region of Thailand .
The capital of the county is also called Phang-nga .
geography
The neighboring amphoe and areas are (clockwise from east): Thap Put and Phanom of Surat Thani Province , Kapong , Thai Mueang and Takua Thung . In the south lies the Bay of Phang-nga with the island district of Ko Yao .

The district of Mueang Phang-nga is divided into nine sub-districts ( tambon ) , which are further subdivided into 42 village communities ( muban ) .

Local administration
Phang-nga ( เทศบาล เมือง พังงา ) is a city ( Thesaban Mueang ) in the district, it consists of the entire Tambon Thai Chang.
Bang Toei ( เทศบาล ตำบล บางเตย ) is a small town ( Thesaban Tambon ) , it consists of the whole Tambon Bang Toei.
There are also six “tambon administration organizations” (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ) for the tambon in the county that do not belong to any town.
