Office Rödelheim

The Office Rödelheim was an office of the County of Solms-Rödelheim .

history

The core of the exercise of power in Rödelheim was the Rödelheim Castle . With the death of Frank XII. von Kronberg in 1461, Solms inherited half of the castle and town of Rödelheim. In 1569 a settlement was reached when the Counts of Solms exchanged the Frankfurt share in Rödelheim for three quarters of the village of Niederrad . Thus the Counts of Solms were in sole possession.

The family of the Counts of Solms-Rödelheim split off in 1607 as a younger line from the County of Solms-Laubach , which in turn was a younger line of the County of Solms-Lich . In 1607, Count Johann Georg divided the county between his two eldest sons. Count Friedrich (1574–1636) received Rödelheim, Assenheim and Petterweil and thus became the founder of the Solms-Rödelheim branch. The residence was initially in Rödelheim Castle.

Until the late 17th century Solms-Rödelheim had no central administration. In the Rödelheim office, an official managed the business and a cellar was responsible for the finances. Since the Rödelheim winery was by far the largest in the county and was located at the court, it also took on the tasks of central and court administration.

In 1682 the chancellery was created as the highest administrative authority and in 1695 the office of the land cashier, to which the rent chamber was subordinate, as the county's highest financial authority. With that the wineries of the offices disappeared and the officials were subordinated to a money and fruit clerk who delivered the income to the rent chamber.

In 1787 the Rödelheim office administered the following Rödelheim properties:

Burg-Graefenrode, as well as Petterweil and the Beinhardshof, were each run as a separate Amt Burg Graefenrode and Amt Petterweil in the 18th century .

The County of Solms-Rödelheim was mediatized with the Rhine Federation Act and the Office of Rödelheim became part of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . The Count of Solms-Rödelheim retained extensive rights as a registrar and the first instance jurisdiction was made in Hessian and Solms names. In 1821, jurisdiction was separated from administration in Hessen-Darmstadt . The administrative tasks were transferred to the district of Vilbel , the jurisdiction was taken over by the district court Großkarben .
