The district court Großkarben was a court of first instance in the Grand Duchy of Hesse with its seat in Groß-Karben, which existed from 1821 to 1853 .

history

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or the landlords . The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance were transferred to the newly created regional courts in 1821 as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. “Landgericht Großkarben” was therefore the name for the court of first instance in Großkarben from 1821 to 1879. In the territorial territories of the province of Upper Hesse there were still legal offices for court cases of second instance in Büdingen and Hungen , which were subordinate to the court.

In June 1823 the jurisdiction in the village of Steinbach was transferred to the district court Rödelheim , in the village of Lindheim to the regional court of Ortenberg and in the Grand Ducal Domanial portion of the city of Assenheim to the district court of Friedberg , while at the same time the judicial business in the Graeflich Isenburg-Wächtersbach villages of Bönstadt and Bruchenbrücken and in the Count's House Solms-Rödelheim belonging part of Petterweil were assigned to the district court Großkarben. On July 1, 1840, the places Bönstadt and Bruchenbrücken were separated again and assigned to the Friedberg district court . The town of Ilbenstadt was also ceded to the Friedberg District Court on January 1, 1844. With effect from October 15, 1853, the district court Großkarben was repealed and its functions were transferred to the newly established district courts Vilbel and Altenstadt .
