The Altenstadt District Court was a Hessian court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed from 1879 to 1968 and was based in Altenstadt .

history

founding

With the Courts Constitution Act of 1877, the organization and names of the courts were unified across the empire . On October 1, 1879, the previous courts of first instance , the regional courts , were repealed in the Grand Duchy of Hesse and replaced by local courts . The functional predecessor of the Altenstadt District Court was the Altenstadt District Court .

The higher courts directly superordinate to the local courts were now called “ regional courts ”. The Altenstadt district court was assigned to the district of the Giessen regional court .

Further development

Bönstadt was handed over to the Friedberg District Court on July 1, 1911 .

On July 1, 1957, the Altenstadt District Court finally became a branch of the Ortenberg District Court after it was already at the end of the Second World War .

On April 1, 1964, Staden and Stammheim were transferred from the district of this branch to the Friedberg district court and Nieder-Mockstadt to the Nidda district court , while the remaining communities now formed the district of the Altenstadt branch of the Büdingen district court .

The End

On July 1, 1968, the Altenstadt branch of the Büdingen District Court was closed.

Courthouse

The former district court building now serves as Altenstadt's town hall. The neoclassical - neo-baroque building with a gabled central projection dates from 1925. A two-flight winding flight of stairs leads to the main entrance, which is crowned by a blown gable . Here is a cartridge with a Justitia . The building is a cultural monument due to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . (See also: List of cultural monuments in Altenstadt (Hessen) ).
