The Laubach District Court was a Hessian court from 1879 to 1968 with its seat in Laubach .
history
founding
The Laubach District Court was founded on October 1st, 1879 . The occasion was the Courts Constitution Act of 1877, which standardized the court system in the German Empire and has now also been implemented in the Grand Duchy of Hesse . Functionally, it replaced the Laubach Regional Court, which was dissolved at the same time . The new district court was assigned to the district of the also newly established district court of Giessen .
Further development
On January 1, 1882, the Sprengel was around before the District Court Hungen counting place Villingen and the earlier the District Court Lich belonging places Ettingshausen and Munster extended.
Altenhain was taken over by the Ulrichstein District Court on May 15, 1908 .
As a result of the dissolution of the Hungen District Court on June 1, 1934, Nonnenroth was incorporated from there .
The End
On July 1, 1968, the local court was dissolved. The municipality of Altenhain was added to the Alsfeld district court , the remaining municipalities of the Sprengels to the Gießen district court.

Courthouse
The building of the former district court is located at Friedrichstrasse 19. It was built in 1907. The architect was construction inspector Berth from the Alsfeld building department. Today the building is a cultural monument due to the Hessian Monument Protection Act for historical and artistic reasons. After being used as a court, it served as a retirement and nursing home until 2012. The building has been used as a residence for refugees since spring 2013.
