Bönstadt is a district of Niddatal in the Wetterau district in East Hesse .

Bönstadt is located in the Wetterau ( natural sub- unit Heldenbergener Wetterau ) southeast of Assenheim .
history
The place is first mentioned in 1184 as "benstad". The von Benstad aristocratic family can be traced back to 1232 .
A church was built in 1326 and expanded in 1559. It was under the patronage right of the Premonstratensian Monastery of Ober-Ilbenstadt .
On December 1, 1970 , the city of Assenheim and the communities of Bönstadt and Ilbenstadt merged voluntarily as part of the regional reform in Hesse to form the new city of Niddatal, and with it Bönstadt came to the Wetterau district on August 1, 1972 .

The Catholic parish of St. Nikolaus in Wickstadt is also responsible for the districts of Bönstadt and Assenheim. Bönstadt has a Protestant parish together with Kaichen.
