history

The district was visited more than 7000 years ago during the linear ceramics . Bruchenbrücken was first mentioned in a document in 1282/83 as "Brugenbrukke" in the fiefdom register of Gottfried II von Eppstein, who had jurisdiction over Bruchenbrücken. Around 1297 Bruchenbrücken was given to Ruzo von Ilbenstadt as a fief. After the Counts of Eppstein-Stolberg died out, Bruchenbrücken fell to the Electorate of Mainz . In 1364, after the Falkensteiners had gained power in the former Münzenberg area , to which Bruchenbrücken also belonged, Bruchenbrücken is mentioned as a lower court in an Ilbenstadt document. Then the court were as Grefe before 1384: Cuntze and since 1409: Hartmann Ripode . At that time Bruchenbrücken belonged to the Falkensteiner Grafschaft Assenheim together with Fauerbach , Ossenheim , Bauernheim Ober-Wöllstadt , Nieder-Wöllstadt and Nieder-Rosbach . With the extinction of the Falkensteiners, the rule initially passed to the Countess zu Sayn and Diether zu Ysenburg-Büdingen, who initially exercised the administration together. After the separation, Ysenburg-Büdingen received the part to which Bruchenbrücken also belonged, which from then on was administered by a Ysenburg bailiff sitting in Assenheim Castle . The next written mention can be found in a document from 1483, which deals with the property of the Mainz St. Alban monastery in Bruchenbrücken.

In 1555, under Count Anton von Ysenburg-Büdingen, the Reformation was introduced in his domain and thus also in Bruchenbrücken.

In 1930 in the Reichstag election with a turnout of 85.28%, the votes cast were distributed among the parties as follows: SPD 210, KPD 49, NSDAP 38 and the Hessian rural people 74.

In 1931 in the state elections: SPD 72, KPD 40, Hessisches Landvolk 31, Socialist Workers' Party 129, NSDAP 111, the remaining votes were divided between a further 8 parties.

In the 1932 presidential election in the first ballot: Hitler 185, Hindenburg 129, Thälmann 129. In the second ballot, Hitler 205, Hindenburg 195, Thälmann 56.

On December 31, 1971, Bruchenbrücken was incorporated into the district town of Friedberg as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
