geography

Büdesheim is located on the edge of the Wetterau in the natural sub- unit of Heldenbergener Wetterau . The federal highway 521 leads through the place. Büdesheim is on the Bad Vilbel - Stockheim federal railway line , the so-called Niddertal Railway , at which there is a stop.

history

The earliest surviving mention of the village comes from 802 as Butensheim . Then the place name changed via Budensheim (1015) and Buodenesheim (1017) to the current name. Büdesheim belonged to the Freigericht Kaichen , which came under the rule of the Burggrafschaft Friedberg in the 15th century . With this it fell to Hessen-Darmstadt in 1806 .

The particular law of the Kaichen Free Court, the Friedberger Police Regulations, applied here . In 1679 it was renewed and printed. This is the first time that it can be put into writing. She mainly dealt with administrative , police and regulatory law . In this respect, the Solms land law remained the main source of law for the broad area of civil law . The Common Law was, moreover, if all these regulations did not contain provisions for a fact. This legal situation remained in force in the 19th century after Büdesheim was transferred to the Grand Duchy of Hesse . It was not until the Civil Code of January 1, 1900, which was uniformly valid throughout the German Reich , that this old particular law was suspended.

Territorial reform

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the community of Schöneck was created on December 31, 1970 through the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities of Büdesheim, Kilianstädten and Oberdorfelden. For Büdesheim, as for all the formerly independent communities of Schöneck, a local district with a local advisory board and mayor was formed according to the Hessian municipal code.

Until his departure, Büdesheim belonged to the Friedberg district. On August 1, 1972, the Friedberg district was dissolved by the law on the reorganization of the Büdingen and Friedberg districts of July 11, 1972. Schöneck then belonged to the Main-Kinzig district .

Population development

The number of inhabitants changed as follows:

  • 1939: 1296
  • 1961: 2518
  • 1970: 3052

religion

From around the 16th century to 1938 there was a Jewish community with its own synagogue . The former Jewish cemetery with some gravestones has been preserved on the eastern edge of the municipality. The glass windows in the Protestant church were created in 1907 by the well-known workshop Rudolf and Otto Linnemann from Frankfurt.

coat of arms

Büdesheim coat of arms

Blazon: "Divided by gold and red, above a growing red-crowned and red-armored black eagle , below a golden tricorn bar (zigzag bar)."

The coat of arms was approved on April 17, 1957 by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior .

The upper part of the coat of arms with the half imperial eagle , which appears in full in the court seal in the 18th century, refers to the former affiliation of the place to the burgraviate Friedberg. The lower part shows the coat of arms of Burgrave Johann Brendel von Homburg in confused colors.

The coat of arms was created under the administration of the Darmstadt state archivist Dr. Walter Gunzert designed in collaboration with the heraldist Heinz Ritt , Bad Nauheim. It differs significantly from the version published in the book " Hessisches Wappenbuch - Ortswappen" (only a draft there).
