District Court Gladenbach
The district court of Gladenbach was a court of first instance of the ordinary jurisdiction in the province of Upper Hesse of the Grand Duchy of Hesse with its seat in Gladenbach .
founding
From 1821 onwards, the Grand Duchy of Hesse separated jurisdiction from administration on the lower level.
The tasks previously performed by the offices have been assigned to district administrators (responsible for administration) and district courts (responsible for jurisdiction). The district of the Gladenbach Regional Court was formed from parts of the areas of responsibility of the Blankenstein Office , the majority of the municipalities of the Biedenkopf Office located to the right of the Lahn , places from the Koenigsberg Office and the courts of Roth , Lixfeld and Obereisenhausen from the Breidenbacher Grund . These dishes were still patrimonial of the Breidenbach zu Breidenstein family .
The superordinate authority for the Gladenbach Regional Court was the Giessen Court Court .

Further development
With effect from July 1, 1851, the places Roth, Simmersbach and Oberhörlen were separated from the Gladenbach regional court district and assigned to the Biedenkopf regional court .
As a result of the reorganization of the judicial districts in the province of Upper Hesse in 1853, a number of other communities from the judicial district of Gladenbach came to that of the Biedenkopf court on October 15, 1853 (see overview).
The End
After the lost war of 1866 , the Grand Duchy had to cede parts of the territory to Prussia with the peace treaty of September 3, 1866 . This also included the Hessian hinterland (the " Biedenkopf district ") with the district of the Gladenbach Regional Court.
In June 1867, Prussia adapted the court organization to its own structure in the captured areas: the previous regional courts were repealed and replaced by local courts . The District Court of Gladenbach was the successor to the Biedenkopf Regional Court .
Courthouse
The seat of the regional court was the grand ducal office (Marktstrasse 9). The three-story half - timbered house was built in 1757 and previously used by the Blankenstein office. In 1854 the house was used by the administration of justice. It is a cultural monument due to the Hessian Monument Protection Act .
