Obereisenhausen is a district of the large community of Steffenberg in the central Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1103 as the seat of the church. There used to be a diabase quarry in the direction of Holzhausen . However, this is no longer in operation.

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Obereisenhausen in 1830:

"Obereisenhausen (L. Bez. Gladenbach) evangel. Parish village; is on the Perf, 2 12 St. from Gladenbach, and belongs to the Baron von Breidenstein. There are 36 houses and 245 Protestant residents, as well as 1 church and 2 grinding mills with 1 oil mill. In earlier times the place appears under the name Yssenhussen superior . An ore announcement was made here as early as 1654. Up to the most recent times the so-called seven-year court was held in the open air near Obereisenhausen, in which all the landgrave serfs who had married an unrelated, ie noble, serf were punished. In addition to Obereisenhausen, this dish also included Niedereisenhausen and Steinperf. "

Territorial reform

On April 1, 1972, Obereisenhausen was incorporated into the newly created community of Steffenberg as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
