Breidenbacher reason

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Breidenbacher Grund is one to 562  m above sea level. NN high, mostly in the far west of the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf lying natural area (320.00) within the natural area of the Westerwald (32) Gladenbacher Bergland (320). It is the northernmost part of both the Gladenbacher Bergland main unit and the Westerwald main unit group . The central river is the Perf , which flows through the Breidenbacher Grund roughly in the middle from south to north.

The name Breidenbacher Grund originally comes from a historical judicial district in the Blankenstein district , which differs slightly from the natural area in terms of its boundaries (see below).

Limits

The eastern border is the Dautphe valley , the northern border that of the Lahn . Both form the adjacent natural area of Oberes Lahntal (320.2), which separates the Gladenbacher Bergland from the adjacent sackpipe (333.3) and foreheads (332.0), both of which belong to the Rothaargebirge and its eastern foreland.

In the south, the Breidenbacher Grund merges into the high plateau of the Bottenhorn plateaus , whose valley locations are over 400  m above sea level. NN (Breidenbacher Grund: approx. 300  m above sea level ) are significantly more montane. A lane around the wide valley of the Perf tributary Gansbach extends far into the plateau, while otherwise the dividing line runs largely in an east-west direction.

In the south west the watershed between Dietzhölze and Perf forms the border to the natural area 321.1 Upper Dilltal (with Dietzhölzetal) , in the north west the watershed between the western Lahn tributary Banfe and the Perf forms the border within the flowing transition to the Wittgensteiner Bergland (333.2) and thus to the Rothaar Mountains.

Rivers

From the above it follows that practically all rivers of the Breidenbacher Grund drain over the Perf and (shorter) left tributaries of the Dautphe northwards to the Lahn. In addition to the Perf itself, the most important rivers are its left tributaries Gansbach , Hörle , Diete , Gladenbach and Boxbach , along whose valleys there are also various villages (and often they are named). In addition, the Dautphe tributary Fortbach and its source rivers should be mentioned, on which the two Dautphetal districts (see below) are located.

places

All districts of the eponymous community Breidenbach are located in the Breidenbacher Grund. In addition to the two western Dautphetal districts of Silberg and Hommertshausen (the latter on the southeastern border), there are also all of the districts of the municipality of Steffenberg (except for Steinperf ) and two of the three Angelburg districts ( Gönnern and Frechenhausen ).

The Eschenburg districts of Roth and Simmersbach , which belong to the Lahn-Dill district , are also located on the southern western border , while uninhabited parts of the town of Bad Laasphe protrude into the Breidenbacher Grund at the northwestern interface with the Rothaargebirge . Uninhabited parts of the city of Biedenkopf also meet the natural area.

Boundaries of the historic judicial district

The historical court district of Breidenbacher Grund , which belongs to the Blankenstein office , also included Breidenstein and Wallau on and Weifenbach on the other side of the Lahn as well as the natural areas of Lixfeld and Steinperf, which are part of the Bottenhorn plateau . In contrast, included in the catchment area of the Dautphe places lying Hommertshausen and Silberg to court Dautphe in office Biedenkopf .

Thus, the Breidenstein estate comprised the present-day communities of Breidenbach , Steffenberg and Angelburg as well as some western parts of Biedenkopf and north-eastern parts of Eschenburg .

The south, on the other hand, is largely unwooded, and significant elevations there are already part of the adjacent Bottenhorn plateaus.
