course

The source of the Banfe is located in the south of the Bad Laasphe district and the Wittgensteiner Bergland in the southeastern Rothaar Mountains , immediately southeast of Fischelbach at an altitude of 467 meters above sea level. From there it flows in the form of a semicircle open to the southeast in a clockwise direction, initially in a north-westerly direction to the east towards the mouth. To the west of Hesselbach flowing Hesselbach in Fischelbach; from this point on the river is called Banfe. A little further down the stream it takes on the left side of the Bernshausen stream coming from Bernshausen . It then passes through the districts of Banfe , Herbertshausen and Laaspherhütte , until it finally flows into the Lahn in the southwest of the core town of Bad Laasphes at an altitude of 324 meters above sea level.

In Fischelbach the Banfe flows from the left or from the Ederkopf-Lahnkopf ridge to its source tributary Sohler Bach , over which the stream is significantly longer than its actual source river.
