Fischelbach is a southern district of the city of Bad Laasphe in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The village has about 850 inhabitants.
geography
Fischelbach lies in the valley of the Banfe , also called Fischelbach , at an altitude of approx. 300 to 500 m above sea level. NN . The distance to the core town of Bad Laasphe is about 8 km ( beeline ).
history
Fischelbach is first mentioned in 1233 in a document from the Haina monastery . The place is referred to as Vischlinbach. In 1307 the Counts zu Wittgenstein bought Fischelbach and the villages of Hesselbach , Puderbach and Niederlaasphe from the Knights of Breidenbach .
In 1939 the last mine in the area, the Gonderbach mine, was closed. This marked the end of the 600 year ore mining history in Wittgensteiner Land. In the course of the regional reform, Fischelbach became a district of the city of Bad Laasphe on January 1, 1975.
Culture and sights
The church in Fischelbach was first mentioned in 1309. Protestant services are held here every two weeks. The church tower is a registered monument.
Infrastructure and economy
Fischelbach is conveniently located on Landesstraße 718, which connects Bad Laasphe and Dillenburg . Almost all working residents have to travel long distances. The former main line of business, agriculture, is now only operated as a sideline. Fischelbach is located directly on a feeder road to the Rothaarsteig . Due to the altitude of the place, winter sports (cross-country skiing) are possible.
