history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1307. The Counts of Wittgenstein bought the villages of Fischelbach , Hesselbach , Puderbach and Niederlaasphe from the Knights of Breidenbach .

The bridge square with the bakery built in 1881 and still in use forms the historical center of the village. In addition to agriculture , a mill and the Amalienhütte shaped the structural and economic development of the village.

The Amalienhütte emerged from a hammer mill . In 1848 Mrs. Amalie Jung received the building permit for the construction of a pig iron works . In 1859 the first pig iron flowed out of the blast furnace. The plant was named in honor of the owner.

In 1932, the Buderus company from Wetzlar acquired the Amalienhütte. It closed on October 1, 1975. Parts of the Amalienhütte with the adjacent hut pond are still there. The Trafostation industrial museum, which is important in terms of economic history, is located on the former factory site .

On January 1, 1975 Niederlaasphe was incorporated into the city of Bad Laasphe (then still Laasphe ).

Not far from the Amalienhütte in the Lahnwiesen, the planetary nature trail laid out in 1998 by students from the Bad Laaspher grammar school begins . Here the dimensions of the solar system are illustrated with the distances and sizes of the sun and its planets on a scale of 1: 1,000,000,000. The approx. 6 km long nature trail leads along a paved and appropriately signposted path to the Bad Laaspher district of Laaspherhütte .

In the past few years Niederlaasphe took part in the competition “ Our village should be more beautiful ” several times with success . In addition to numerous first and second prizes, several bronze and silver plaques could also be won. In 1999 Niederlaasphe also received a special prize from the Siegen-Wittgenstein Tourist Association for networking various tourist offers in connection with the Lahntal cycle path . In 2000 the town was again awarded the bronze plaque of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .
